Slack is a messaging and collaboration platform, owned by Salesforce, that replaces scattered email threads with organised channels. Teams use it to chat, share files, hold quick audio or video huddles, automate routine tasks and connect the business tools they already use.
You can open Slack in a browser, but the downloaded app gives you native notifications, faster switching between workspaces, a dedicated window that stays out of your browser tabs, and a mobile experience built for staying reachable away from your desk.
Every guide, newest first — installs for every platform, plus pricing, AI, huddles, notifications and fixes.
Everything you get once the app is installed — the same core tools on desktop and mobile, synced across every device you sign in on.
Group conversations by project, team or topic in public or private channels, so the right people see the right updates without inbox clutter.
Reply in threads to keep side discussions tidy, or switch to one-to-one and small-group DMs for quick decisions.
Jump into a live audio or video huddle with screen sharing, or record a short clip when a meeting is overkill.
Work with clients, vendors and partners in shared channels that connect separate organisations securely.
Automate approvals, stand-ups, request forms and routine announcements without writing a single line of code, and connect them to the apps your team already depends on.
Keep docs, checklists and lightweight project tracking right next to the conversation that created them.
Pull in alerts and updates from tools such as Google Drive, Jira and GitHub so the work arrives where your team already talks, instead of in yet another inbox.
Find old messages, shared files and the right people in seconds, with filters for channels, dates and authors that make even a busy workspace easy to dig through.
Four short stages take you from this page to a working, signed-in Slack app — with an official source at every step.
Use the download card at the top of this page: Android users go straight to Google Play, and everyone else gets the right official source for their system.
Install from Google Play, the App Store, the Microsoft Store, the Mac App Store or Slack’s own website — never from a mirror.
Open the app and sign in with your work email, a magic sign-in code or your company’s single sign-on.
Choose which channels alert you, set Do Not Disturb hours, and add more workspaces whenever you need them.
Choose your platform for a short, accurate walkthrough. Each one uses only official stores and installers.
Slack adapts to very different groups. These are the setups where installing the app pays off quickly.
Route deploy alerts, incident channels and code-review pings into dedicated channels so on-call engineers can act without hunting through email.
Keep a hybrid team in sync across time zones with threads, async clips and huddles that replace a lot of scheduled meetings.
Share deal updates, escalate tickets and collaborate with clients directly through Slack Connect channels.
Run course channels, group projects and staff rooms with file sharing and reminders in one place.
Host volunteer groups, user communities and open-source contributors in organised, searchable channels.
Coordinate a small team, track simple requests with lists, and keep every client conversation easy to find.

The button below opens Slack’s verified Google Play listing, and the download center underneath links every other platform to its official source. Installing from an official store or slack.com means automatic updates and a file signed by Slack itself.
Download safely: get Slack only from official sources — slack.com, the App Store, Google Play, the Microsoft Store or the Snap Store. Avoid look-alike download sites and any “mod” or “Slack Premium” offer, and check the publisher before installing: SLACK TECHNOLOGIES L.L.C. on Apple and Google, Slack Technologies Inc. on the Microsoft Store. See the official sources and disclaimer.
Pick your platform, then filter by OS version. Every button opens an official source; versions were checked on .
Windows 10 is not on Slack’s current supported list. Neither official Windows download is listed for it — use Slack in a supported browser or upgrade to Windows 11 version 23H2 or later.
Every version uses the same account, but each fits a different situation. Compare them before you decide what to install.

Tip: most people install the desktop app at work and the mobile app on their phone; the web version is the fallback when you can’t install software.
The most common install, update and sign-in issues — and what actually solves them.
Your phone is probably below Android 11 or lacks Google Play Services. Update the OS if you can; otherwise use Slack in a supported mobile browser.
Slack blocks app versions once they reach end of support. Update from the same store you installed from, or reinstall the latest official build.
Exclude Slack from battery optimisation, re-enable its notification channels, and check Do Not Disturb inside Slack itself.
Download a fresh copy from an official source, sign out of Windows and back in, then run the installer again without other installs in progress.
Install from the Mac App Store or Slack’s official .dmg, move the app to Applications, and approve it in Privacy & Security if prompted.
Wayland sessions can restrict screen capture. Test in an X11 session or use Chrome or Firefox for huddles as a fallback.
Make sure your default browser can open the Slack sign-in link, clear the app’s cache from the Help menu, then try the emailed sign-in code instead.
Only Chrome and Firefox support huddles on the web. Switch browsers or use the desktop or mobile app.
Slack is a work tool that holds private conversations and company files, which makes it a popular target for fake installers and look-alike sign-in pages. A genuine copy only ever comes from an official store or Slack’s own website.
We never host or repackage the app. Every download link on this site points to an official source — slack.com or Slack’s verified store listings — and our guides name each official source so you can recognise it yourself.

Average 4.6 / 5 across 10 sample reviews
I set up six new starters on Windows 11 and the Microsoft Store vs installer comparison saved me a lot of second-guessing. The reminder to check the publisher before clicking Install is now on our onboarding checklist.
The IT deployment guide explained the MSIX route and the May/November requirement reviews clearly, which helped me plan our refresh window. I would like a deeper section on Intune assignment, but it pointed me straight to Slack’s own docs.
Our team is spread across three time zones, and the notifications walkthrough finally got everyone using a proper notification schedule and keyword alerts. Fewer 2 a.m. pings, which my people appreciate.
Straight answer on .deb versus Snap for Ubuntu 24.04, plus the note that the Linux app is still beta. Exactly the context I wanted before installing it on my work laptop.
The Slack vs Teams vs Discord table gave me a clean starting point for a tooling proposal. Discord’s paid tiers weren’t priced in the article, so I checked those myself, but the rest of the comparison was easy to present.
I nearly grabbed a “Slack Premium” APK from a random site. The APK safety guide explained why paid features come from the workspace plan, not a modded app, and the QR code took me straight to Google Play.
My work Chromebook isn’t on Slack’s supported list, and the Chromebook guide laid out the browser option honestly instead of promising something that wouldn’t work.
We kept getting “this version is no longer supported” tickets. The troubleshooting guide’s update steps and the link to Slack’s lifecycle page cut those calls down quickly.
Before upgrading I wanted to understand the free plan’s 90-day message history and the 10-app limit. The pricing guide set out Free, Pro and Business+ side by side without any upsell.
I like that the requirements table shows when it was last checked. It was also upfront that Windows 10 is no longer on Slack’s supported list, which is what I needed to tell a couple of our older desks.

Quick answers to the questions people ask most before installing Slack.
Yes. Slack is free to download on Android, iPhone, iPad, Windows, Mac and Linux. The free plan has limits, such as restricted message history, while paid plans unlock more history, features and admin controls.
The green Download buttons open Slack’s official Google Play listing, and the download center links Windows, Mac, Linux, iPhone and the web app to slack.com or the official store. We never host installers or APK files.
We don’t recommend it. Third-party APK files can be outdated or tampered with and won’t update automatically. Slack also only supports Android devices that include Google Play Services, so Google Play is the safe route.
Install it from the Microsoft Store or download the installer from Slack’s official website, run it, and sign in. Slack currently lists Windows 11 version 23H2 or later and Windows Server 2016 as supported.
Windows 10 is no longer on Slack’s supported system list. The app may keep running for a while, but you won’t get guaranteed updates. Upgrading to Windows 11 or using Slack in a supported browser are the safer options.
Get it from the Mac App Store or download the official .dmg from Slack’s website and drag Slack into Applications. You need macOS 13 or later; Apple silicon and Intel Macs are both supported.
Yes. Slack provides .deb packages for Ubuntu and Debian, .rpm packages for Red Hat-family systems, and a Snap package. It supports Ubuntu 22.04 LTS and RHEL 9.0 or later, and labels the Linux app as beta.
Yes. You can sign in to Slack in Chrome, Firefox, Safari or Microsoft Edge. Keep in mind that huddles in the browser only work in Chrome and Firefox.
Yes. The desktop and mobile apps let you add several workspaces and switch between them from the sidebar or workspace switcher.
The device is likely running a version older than Android 11 or doesn’t have Google Play Services installed by default. In that case, use the web version in a supported browser.
Slack reviews its supported versions twice a year, in May and November. When an app version reaches end of support, you’ll be asked to update before you can continue.
No. We are a third-party guide that is not affiliated with Slack Technologies or Salesforce. We explain how to install Slack safely and always send you to official sources.
